Dr.Nizar Kochery is the founder of Kocheries Legal Consultants LLP and serves as the firm's lead international Consultant.

Designated Senior Advocate practising at the Supreme Court of India and High Courts all over the country; handles International Arbitrations in India and abroad. A distinguished Civil Engineer of 27 years expertise, he has constructed and designed many multistoreyed RCC structures, including Gymnasium in Punjab University (castinsitu) having 100 feet clear span, which is the largest in any University in Asia. He was consultant to Engineering Consortium in 1982 in Baghdad (Iraq) and Member, Governing Council, Indian Concrete Institute, Madras (19821985).

He has authored many books on Arbitration, Contracts and Partnership: Arbitration Law and Practice; Law Relating to Arbitration and Conciliation (8th Edition); Building and Engineering Contracts – Law and Practice (4th Edition, in 2 volumes, published in 2013); Law of Contract (3rd Edition, in 2 volumes, published in 2013); Law of Partnership (1st Edition, published in 2010); Arbitration – Step by Step (1st Edition, published in 2012 by M/s LexisNexis Butterworths, India) are few among them. Recently he has authored a Chapter on “Law of Arbitration and Conciliation” in Halsbury’s Laws of India. He is also assigned the task of revision of Emden’s “Building and Engineering Contracts” [likely to be published in September, 2014].

Dr. Markanda has addressed various International Conferences at home and abroad on topics relating to Law of Arbitration and Law of Contract. He has also participated in many national and international conferences/seminars/workshops. He has published over 40 papers in National and International Journals.

He has served as Vice-President of the Indian Council of Arbitration (ICA) for two consecutive terms (2007-2008 and 2008-2009) and was a member of the Governing Body of ICA for 8 consecutive terms (1986-2010). Currently, his membership is from 2011 for a term of 4 years. At present, Dr. Markanda is the Senior Vice-President (North) and Member, Governing Council, Indian Institute of Technical Arbitrators, Chennai; Member, Editorial Board of the Quarterly Journal of the Indian Council of Arbitration and Member, Editorial Board of the reputed Journal ‘Arbitration Law Reporter’ published monthly from Delhi.

Formerly, he was Visiting Professor to the College of Architecture, Chandigarh, for 5 years; Member, Board of Studies in Engineering, Punjab University, Chandigarh, for 4 years; Member, Board of Studies in Architecture, Punjab University, Chandigarh, for 4 years; Secretary, S.D. Graduated in Law from the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS), Kochi, Rizwin got admitted to the legal profession in India in the year 2015. He then obtained his LL.M in Arbitration and Dispute Resolution from the University of Dubai with Dean’s Highest Honour.

Rizwin specializes in dispute resolution in all its forms; he represents the Firm and acts as counsel in institutional arbitrations such as ICC, QICCA etc. and other domestic arbitrations, mainly pertaining to construction-related disputes and claims. He is an Associate Member of the Academy of Arbitration Avenues – International (AAA), and a Mediator certified by the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Indian Institute of Arbitration and Mediation (IIAM).

Graduated in Law from the Govt. Law College, Ernakulam Jayachandran got admitted to Legal Profession in India in the year 1987.

Jayachandran acts as designated enquiry officer of Plantation Corporation of Kerala Ltd. He also represents Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and various Governmental Agencies and institutions in apex courts.

Graduated in Law from the Govt. Law College, Ernakulam, Baby got admitted to Legal Profession in India in 1977 as junior to Sri. S. Venkatarajan & Sri. C. Sankara Menon, well known civil lawyers of Kerala High Court. Baby has extensive experience in all civil matters, law relating to property, succession, arbitration etc..

In 1984 he chose banking law as his specialization and grew to be a key part of the legal team of State Bank of Travancore. He brings a deep knowledge of Banking Law and Practice acquired through 29 years of his specialist banking services. Also, he was the former AGM (Law) of State Bank of Travancore who advised banks on various law related matters and represented them in the courts including proceedings before Tribunals under Debt Recovery and SARFAESI Acts.

He advises clients on policy and regulatory matters; drafting and vetting of agreements relating to Banking Services and Credit Facilities; Project Loan agreements & vendor agreements; service agreements & business association agreements; incorporation of Companies & LLPs etc. and providing legal opinions.

A specialist in Bank recovery issues, he is a broad-based banking lawyer with considerable experience in a number of practice areas, including secured lending, project finance, export/trade finance and debt restructuring, as well as in general corporate finance.

Raiz got admitted to the legal profession in India in the year 2012. He has obtained an LLM in Commercial Law from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and an LLM in Law and Banking from the Bangor University in the United Kingdom.

Raiz started his practice by handling corporate matters at High Court of Kerala. He offers consultancy and litigation services to local and multinational clients on corporate, commercial, labour matters etc. He also undertakes review of contracts and regulations, partnership deeds, incorporation of companies and drafting of shareholders agreement, articles of association, power of attorney, assignments, investments, loan agreements etc.

Prior to joining the Firm, he was associated with King & Patridge, Corporate Law Firm, Chennai and later with Qatar Financial Centre Branch of Pinsent Masons LLP, UK in their Corporate Group reporting to Mr. Jonathan Reardon, Partner.

Shiv Pal Singh got admitted to the legal profession in India in the year 2015. He holds LLM in Corporate & Commercial Law from Madhav University, Rajasthan and is currently pursuing PhD in Law from Bir Tikendrajit University, Manipur.

He holds certification from the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in IP Protection and Commercialisation, and is currently pursuing LL.M.
